The Library in the Forest is located in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. This LEED project included the construction of a library and associated parking facilities on a sensitive portion of property both environmentally and publicly. Positioned on the top of a hill with a sensitive watershed below, sustainable techniques were used to capture storm water runoff prior to discharging into this area. This project also required delicate coordination with the surrounding neighbors because they did not want to see trees cut down.
