The project included improvements to Highway 158, relocation of an existing Frontage Road (Shell Street) and implementing a new traffic signal synchronization plan for the Highway 158 project corridor. The Relocated Frontage Road was moved approximately 550 feet west of its original location. The relocated portion extends north from Highway 158 about 3,850 feet, along I-65, until it rejoins the existing Frontage Road alignment. From the alignment tie-in point, approximately 2,000 feet more of the existing Frontage Road was widened. The total length of the roadway is just under 1 mile. Alongside the Relocated Frontage Road there is a constructed wetland feature approximately 2,750 feet in length. This roadway will ultimately serve a new medical facility and thousands of square feet of retail.
