Project Description
Launched by UAB in 2008 to provide high temperature steam via an underground piping system to serve both the medical and academic facilities of UAB’s campus, the UAB District Steam System consisted of the survey mapping and design of a new steam generation plant and distribution system. The steam plant is located at the heart of UAB and the steam distribution network spans across most of the UAB campus. Serving as a critical member of the design team, Schoel completed a topographic survey of the steam routing corridor that included surface improvements as well as subsurface public and private utilities. In addition, Schoel also completed the civil engineering design drawings and construction surveying layout services necessary to facilitate the successful construction of the project.
